Challenge
With teammates, family, and friends located around the globe, could we build something to make coordinating talks easier?
Inspired by xkcd’s comic, Now, which shows the approximate time everywhere on the globe, we undertook the creation of our own customizable tool to simplify phone call or live chat coordination.
Solution
Beginning with design, we worked through various iterations of the visuals and interface to make the hours of overlap that exist between cities clear and to facilitate finding a time for a conversation. We shared early versions with staff and made iterative adjustments striving for clarity and simplicity.
Result
The tool went viral and has a daily stream of users at worldchatclock.com. It was shortlisted for an Information is Beautiful Award and, most importantly, allows us to easily find times to connect with others.
